Small Cool Courtyard
Having previously built a roof garden for them, these clients wished to do something with an unused, part enclosed roof area on the lower floor of their flat. Two sets of french doors opened onto it, from an office at one end and from the hall at the side. Substantial portions of the wall plaster had become water-damaged, and it had to be repaired and repainted.
Travertine slabs were used for the floor, with a mosaic of travertine on the wall opposite the office door. A large mirror was placed opposite the hallway doors with carriage lamps positioned either side.
Not pictured is the Polycarbonate roof I installed which half covers the courtyard, meaning the doors can be left open on warm summer nights regardless of rain.
